Greetings to all!!
My name is J. Robert Cipriano and I am the co-founder and director of the Christian Chefs of Arizona. I am a born again believer in Christ and a Chef de Patissier at a culinary school in Scottsdale, Arizona. Back in October of 2004 a co-worker and fellow believer and I decided to start an organization to educate and encourage Christian brothers and sisters in the culinary field. We found an excisting organization called the Christian Chefs Fellowship which is an international organization that can be found at www.christianchefs.com. The founder and I corresponded through e-mail and through much encouragement and prayer, we decided to start our own local group here in Arizona. The Christian Chefs of Arizona met for the first time on Teusday, October 11th at a local coffee shop. We have been meeting monthly ever since!!
Our Mission and Vision for the Christian Chefs of Arizona
It is our goal as Christian chefs to gather together for the purpose of developing strong Christian friendships and and to use our resources and abilities to give to those in need. We meet to network among ourselves and to encourage and support one another. We also strive to educate one another and grow spiritually and professionally through our meetings and through the events that we work. The events are listed under the Education page under ProfessionalGrowth. We meet on the second Saturday of each month. The times and locations are on our locations page. Our meetings are structured as follows.
- Director report in which we review the agenda as well as last months minutes. I usually have a theme for the meeting which I briefly discuss.
- Outreach and other service opportunities.
- American Culinary Federation updates and culinary topics are discussed and food demonstrations are done by visitng chefs and members . We have recently discussed Organic Foods, the Slow Food Movement, 2006 Pastry and Baking Trends and the program pioneered by Alice Waters in California entitled "The Edible Schoolyard". Our Food demos have been on Puff Pastry, Gravlox, and product identification from companies like Albert Uster.
- Bible Study/Devotionals.
- Job postings as well as purveyors, recipes, favorite books or magazines both culinary and Christian related are shared.
My prayer for you:
I pray that no matter where you are in your faith that you come and join us for a meeting. No matter if you have been a chef or Christian for years or if you are a culinary student and new in your faith, we have room for you.
