Article I-Membership
Active Member Shall be a Culinarian with at least one to three years full-time employment in the culinary profession or actively enrolled in a culinary school with the intent of making the field their profession.
Associate Members -Shall be a person representing a group, company or corporation providing products and / or services to the culinary profession or a person that wishes to support and promote the culinary profession.
-Shall be eligible to hold elected or appointed office and may serve on any committee as an adviser.
Allied Members -Shall be a person employed in fields related to the culinary profession, (such as, but not limited to dietetics, home economics, food stylist, etc.), who does not qualify as an Active or Associate member.
-Shall be eligible to hold elected or appointed office and may serve on any committee as an adviser.
Honorary Members -Shall be a worthy person nominated by the Director and unanimously approved by the Associate and Allied members.
-Shall be eligible to hold elected or appointed office.
-Shall vote for election of officers.
All interested parties regardless of level of membership must agree with the CCA Mission Statement and Statement of Faith to become a member.
Article II- qualifications for office
Section 1 A member shall be an active member of the Christian Chefs of Arizona for two or more years.
Section 2 A member shall have attended 15 of the last 30 official CCA functions or meetings.
Section 3 A member shall have served on one standing committee or has taken an active roll in the guidance and growth of the CCA.
Article III-Nomination for Office
Section 1 Nominations will open at the November Meeting in odd numbered years and close at the December meeting that same year.
Section 2 Each nominee will be allowed five minutes to speak at the November meeting.
Section 3 There shall be no other campaigning other than asking individual members for their vote.
Article IV-election of Officers
Section 1 The election of officers shall take place at the regular membership meeting in December in odd numbered years and shall be the first order of business.
Section 2 The current Officers shall count the ballots and the Director shall announce the winners as soon as the count is verified. The Director shall hold the ballots for a period of 90 days and if there is no challenge to the election shall destroy them.
Section 3 There shall be no proxies.
Section 4 Any member that is going to be out of town or is scheduled to work on the night of the election may get an absentee ballot from the Director by contacting the Director no more than four weeks and no less than one week before the election. The ballot must reach the Director before the night of the election and be in a sealed envelope. The Director will add the ballot to the ballot box without looking at it.
Section 5 The winner shall be the candidate with the most votes. In the case of a tie, the Director shall give each member present a new ballot and voting shall continue until the tie is broken.
Section 6 The elected officers shall take office at the January regular meeting in even numbered years and shall serve until replaced.
Article V-officers duties
Section 1 - Director Duties are:
a. Shall be the chief executive officer of the association. b. Shall preside at all Board of Directors and Membership Meetings. c. Shall sign with the Secretary all forms of payments and contracts for the association. d. Shall oversee all events and fundraisers. e. Shall appoint any eligible member to fill any elected position that becomes vacant with the approval of the Board of Directors. f. Shall perform other duties as directed by the Board of Directors. g. Shall be responsible for the upkeep of the CCA website. h. Shall be responsible for meeting content.
Section 2 Chair of the Board Shall be elected to a two year term. The term shall begin at the membership meeting in January in even numbered years. Duties are:
a. Shall preside at meetings the Director is unable to attend. b. Shall perform the duties of an office that becomes vacant until a replacement is appointed. c. Shall install all newly elected or appointed officers. d. Shall perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Section 3 Assistant Director Shall be elected to a two year term. The term shall begin at the membership meeting in January in even numbered years. Duties are:
a. Shall preside at meetings the Director is unable to attend. b. Shall install all human resources to work various events and fundraisers. c. Shall replace, for the remainder of the term, the Director in case the office becomes vacant. d. Shall oversee all fund raising committees of the association. e. Shall perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Section 3 - Secretary Shall be elected to a two year term. The term shall begin at the membership meeting in January in even numbered years. Duties are: a. Shall keep the records of the association. b. Shall take the minutes of all Board of Directors and Membership Meetings. c. Shall sign with the Director all contracts for the association. d. Shall keep an updated roster of the membership and shall keep the attendance sheets from each meeting. e. Shall keep the financial records of the association. f. Shall sign all checks for the association with the Director. g. Shall perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Article VI-removal of officers
Section 1 If an elected officer of the CCA is accused of misconduct then the accuser must notify the secretary in writing of the misconduct. The officer will be able at the next Board of Directors meeting to defend themselves. The Board of Directors will vote if the accusations are such to warrant a recall election (majority vote). If a recall is called then at the next Membership meeting, the accuser and the defending officer, will be allowed time to speak on their issue. The members present will vote Yes to recall, No to keep in office. The majority rules.
Section 2 Appointed officers may be removed by the body that appointed them.
Article VII-meetings & events/fundraisers
Section 1 The membership shall meet at a place and time determined by the Director on the second Tuesday and Saturday of each month.
Section 2 The Board of Directors shall meet no less than 6 times during a calendar year at a place, time and date determined by the CCA Director.
Section 3 Committees shall be formed and meet as needed.
Section 4 Meeting notice for all meetings of the CCA shall be sent no less than 10 days before the meeting containing date, time and place.
Section 5 All events & fundraisers must have written approval by the Director and the Assistant Director before the CCA or any of its resources and/or logos can be used for the said event/fundraiser.
Section 6 The CCA will not work on Sunday unless otherwise discussed and voted on by the Board of Directors.
Section 7 The CCA, all of its resources and logos will only be used to host community, fellowship, or charity events for faith based or community based organizations.
Section 8 All events and fundraisers are subject to a fee as determined by the Board of Directors. The funds from all events hosted by the CCA will go into the CCA account to be used to further the growth of the organization as seen fit by the Board of Directors. At the end of the calendar year, all funds in excess of what is needed to support the CCA will be given over to a charity organization that will be voted on by the members of the CCA.
Article VIII-Dues & fees
Section 1 There shall be a one time processing fee of $25.00 for all new members and they shall receive a CCA polo shirt and an association handbook.
Section 2 The Secretary shall collect dues from all new members of the association.
Section 3 Any member more than 60 days past due on paying their dues shall not have any rights of membership, shall resign from any office they hold and may not vote on any business of the association.
Article IX-audits
Section 1 The Director shall appoint two senior members that are not serving on the Board or an outside impartial accountant to audit the accounts of the chapter.
Section 2 The audit shall take place no less than 30 and no more than 60 days after the close of the year.
Article x-dissolution
Section 1 The CCA may be dissolved by a vote of 75 percent of the members present at a meeting that a 30 day written notice was sent to all paid members stating that a "Dissolution of the Association Vote" was to be taken.
Section 2 If the members vote to dissolve the association, all funds remaining after all just obligations of the association are paid shall be given to the charity voted on by the members at the Dissolution Vote.
Article Xi-amendments
Any Active Member may suggest an amendment to this Bylaw. The Board of Directors will research the proposed changing and will develop a formal proposal to be voted on by the voting membership of the CCA.
A written notice shall be sent to all members of CCA not less than 30 days and not more than 90 days before the proposed amendments is to be voted.
The proposed amendment requires a 2/3rd vote of the members present to pass.
Other Rules, Policies, and Procedures
As we start our second year of excistence we are looking to do great things for the Lord and his kingdom. As the Christian Chefs of Arizona gets bigger and we begin to take on added responsibility, we must put certain policies and procedures into place. The bylaws and the code of conduct which follows have been discussed with all the present members and agreed upon.
Code of Conduct/Professionalism
A. Volunteers are encouraged to taste test any item but they must use individual tasting spoons. B. Personal consumption vessels (i.e. water/drinking vessels) are not allowed on or near prep or service areas at any time or for any reason. Drinking vessels must be kept under shelves. These vessels are required to be of plastic construction with tops that are securely fastened to the vessel. Glass, ceramic or other breakable materials will not be allowed and will be removed from the kitchen. C. The preparation of food for the express purpose of volunteer consumption is strictly forbidden. D. No food or other product is to be taken home without prior arrangement with the Director/Assistant Director. All excess foods will be collected, wrapped, marked and set aside in the walk-in for pick up by charities. The removal of food, liquor or any supplies or equipment will result in dismissal and is subject to prosecution. E. Cell phones must be turned off. Exceptions will be made for emergency services employees or medical personnel who are on call and for parents. F. Gambling is not permitted. Any person found to be engaged in gambling will be dismissed. G. Consumption of alcoholic beverages or any use of illicit drugs is strictly prohibited. Unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by volunteers on property or part of any CCA activity is strictly prohibited. H. Each student should understand that his/her demeanor reflects upon the organization and each volunteer agrees to abide by CCA Codes of Professionalism during his/her period of attendance.
Hygiene Volunteers of the CCA must maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene. As a professional in the culinary and hospitality industry proper standards of sanitation and hygiene must be met at all times. The CCA observes the Maricopa County Health Department Codes for the food related industries. Upon receipt of this form the volunteer agrees to abide by the sanitation and hygiene codes of the CCA while participating in any and all events and fundraisers. Any volunteer that does not abide by these standards will not be allowed to participate.
Hair length must be kept neat, above chefs coat collar or tied back and secured with hair net (male and female). All students are to be clean-shaven at all times. Beards and mustaches must be neatly trimmed. Fingernail length must be kept to a minimum at all times; no nail polish is permitted. Excessive make-up, perfume and colognes are not allowed. No bracelets, rings (except wedding ring), earrings or piercing, including pierced eyebrows, noses, tongues or any other visible area; jewelry cannot be worn per Maricopa County Environmental Health Division. No wrist watches are to be worn in the kitchen. Students may not chew gum in kitchens.
If the volunteer has any questions regarding uniform, sanitation or hygiene standards, please ask the Director or Assistant Director.
Dress Code Policies Volunteers who attend CCA events and fundraisers and are not in compliance with the appropriate dress code may be dismissed from the event or asked to return home to gather the complete uniform.
